Exhibition, Talk & Workshops 7th – 14th April
In conjunction with the Crafts Council’s ‘Hey Clay!’ event, the Committee of Taste is delighted to welcome back the wonderful ceramicist Jo Davies to the Stables Café, Gladstone Park. ‘Hey Clay!’ is a national celebration of clay with events nationwide throughout 7th – 9th April and we are thrilled to be taking part in this years programme of events.
A number of you will have visited Jo’s pop-up exhibition in December 2016 and have taken part in her porcelain lantern making / wheel throwing workshops which went down brilliantly. We were blown away by the pieces produced and it was great to see some familiar faces getting creative!
For those of you who didn’t attend or are unfamiliar with her work, Jo Davies specialises in wheel-thrown and hand-built porcelain, bringing years of experience and craftsmanship to every object made. The enjoyment of the making process and the continuing development of an evolving creativity are what drives her practice. As a Royal College of Art graduate, and experienced studio-ceramics practitioner, Jo Davies has become a respected Designer-Maker. Her work is bought by collectors from around the world who value her ceramics for its quality and beauty. She is an award-winning practitioner who has taught at university level and exhibits internationally.
Isatu Hyde is our wonderful potter in residence. She produces beautiful functional pottery including tableware, plant pots, jars and vases. She joins us following a 3 year apprenticeship with Andrew Crouch at The Marches Pottery in Ludlow, Shropshire. We are thrilled to have her on board.
